The Friendly Nipple

(2016-2018)

The Friendly Nipple (TFN) was an interactive art campaign focused on investigating the ways in which women inherit and internalize the male gaze. Taboo culture keeps women preoccupied with the fear of their own anatomy and bodily functions. By personifying the female nipple I constructed a safe space for women, including myself, to understand our internalized shame, fear, and self-policing behaviors.

Preoccupation with our own fear keeps women distracted from getting to the root of the problems of our cultural subordination. These fears are even further exacerbated by the hypocritical censorship of female nipples on social media.
